My favorite pool hall is Stroker’s in Palm Harbor, FL. It has all the standard things you expect in a good room, and has the friendly, attentive staff, and talented, sharing and down to earth players that make it special.

Playing pool on a team in a league can be a very rewarding experience. It’s fun, it gets you out of the house on a regular basis, and the camaraderie provided by your teammates, and even by some of those on opposing teams, adds a dimension to the fun that playing singles just doesn’t have. Singles play is great, don’t get me wrong, but if that’s the only way you play pool you’re missing out.

Play Your Best Pool by Phil Capelle is my favorite book on pool. It’s chock full of great information, written in a clear conversational style. The book is thorough without being didactic in any way. You’ll want to savor every morsel.

I started my relationship with pool 40 years ago. It burned brightly, but it burned out. I’ve returned to the game older and wiser and can appreciate it’s demands and my weaknesses much better. Pool is a game I’ll love til I die.
