Position Builder Practice Drill 05c
Centerline Drills – Drawing into the Rail
Yet another way to get out. This time you have to draw the cue ball back into the side rail and back out for your next shot. Touch is critical here, since you’ll be crossing your position zone. Get out of shape and you’re toast.

This drill will be routine if you worked your draw position to perfection back in Stroke Builder 3. Draw straight back, come off the rail and get straight in on the 2 Ball.
Page 2
If you’re perfect on the two just repeat the shot from before and move on to the 3 Ball. If instead you’re a little out of line you might be able to recover. Remember that you can throw the object ball by putting english on the cue ball. By using throw you gan hit the object a little thinner or fatter and still make the ball. Cheating the pocket is very tough from this distance, but if you have no choice . . .
Remember, if the cue ball has english when it hits the rail, the direction will be changed, so left english will cause the cue ball to move up table more, with right whitey will come out straighter from the rail.

Distance is everything in this variation. If you have the touch you’ll succeed, if you don’t you’ll have to work hard to get it. But then that’s why you do these drill, right; to find your weaknesses and exterminate them?

The pressure’s on. Can you make this shot to finish?.

Now here’s a scary thought.

You simply must pull the ball straight back to have any chance at all on this one.
