Position Builder Practice Drill 05d

Centerline Drills – Alternating Corners

You’ll be hitting all of these shots high and inside, to go past the centerline, around the targer corner, and back out for your shot to the other side of the table.

Follow will get you past the centerline and inside will help you spin around the corner. Some people take to this right away, for others it’s a fight. If you’re in the latter group, give it time and a steady effort. It’ll come if you just let it.

With ball in hand, sink the 1 Ball and go two rails for the 2. It will take some practice to find the right angle; not too straight, not too wide.

Now shoot the 2 Ball and get up table a little for the 3. You must get past the line, but going a little too far isn’t so bad.

The cue ball on this shot has a ball collision, hits 2 rails and travels 9 feet or so. Don’t baby it. Stroke smoothly and enjoy your growing skill.

Last ball, don’t blow it. Keep the pressure up, though, to help you cope in tournaments and league matches. Now pot the 4 and move the cue ball around the corner and out to your destination. You did plan a destination didn’t you?

For later, when your skills have improved, try this extended version.

Or for something very demanding in a different way.
